Christmas Concerts
The concert band played for a luncheon a little before Christmas and some of the band played for the Rokeby Carols at St. Matthew's Church in Rokeby. Given that it was fairly short notice for the Carols at Rokeby, those less experienced members of the band acquitted themselves admirably! An extra bonus was the availability of the singer who fronted the band. Thank you to the all who came and helped out for either or both events and well done, all!
A Dixie Debut!
The Dixies have their first solo concert this next week at a retirement village close to "home." It's on Friday, 1st February starting at 7.00pm. Everyone is invited to attend. Entrance is by a plate for supper and a charge of $2 per head. The retirement village is just up the road from the jail and opposite the church. (The church is at 550 East Derwent Highway.)
All the best to them. Anyone interested in more information about the Dixies, please contact Mark.
Coming this year:
There will be no rehearsals for concert band during the school holidays; rehearsals will resume in early February. The Dixies will still be meeting most weeks.
Some of the band will be helping out at the Wooden Boat Festival as a fundraiser. There will also be a fundraising barbecue at Bunnings, Derwent Park, later this year.
